![]() Restore files or folders using file history. previous versions are copies of files and folders the system saves automatically as part of a shadow copy, which means that you have to configure a restore point or file history. On windows 10, “previous versions” is a feature that allows you to recover lost or deleted files using file explorer. (see screenshot below) if the restore button is unavailable (grayed out), then it means that you can't restore a previous version of the file to its original location. A) select a previous version of the file if available, and select how you want to restore the previous version from the available options (ex: "restore" or "restore to"). ![]() ![]() in the file history backups window, you can double click the folders to check the files in it to find the file or folder you want to restore. select the desired files and folders to restore.
